Every sushi place I know has some spicy rolls - spicy tuna, spicy salmon, etc. If I am correct, that mostly means your regular rolls with some hot chili souse.
I had never tried to make spicy sushi myself before, but tonight I got bored and decided to play with my (and my family's) food - while preparing it, of course:) Thai green chilly seafood souse, and wild lime and chili souse both seemed to be more interesting than Tabasco:). The result = quite decent.

Mmm! It looks delicious!

Do you ever use Thai peanut sauce? I love that stuff! :)

Thanks!:)

Yes, I use Thai peanut saute souse occasionally, though I am not the biggest fan of peanuts in general... Also, my guys like crushed peanuts sprinkled over a stir-fry for both texture and flavor.

MMMM looks good to me. And I do enjoy some spice. I remember all the things you mention about sushi. I do try it on my own, but it is never quite as pretty as yours.

I do enjoy spice in general - on donburi, mmm!:) - but I prefer maki sushi with fresh fish with a bit of the simple, fresh vegetables, like avocado and cucumber - for the pure taste, you know. My favorite "fancy" additions to the sushi rolls are all sorts of oriental pickled stuff, like makizushi no moto, marinated nameko mushrooms, and such.
Still, it's interesting to experiment time to time. Spicy souses, "funny" additions, like fried tofu, using smoked fish - why not, you never know what could be good, right? :)

Mmmm the pickled items sound good.

It is true. I've tried some things I didn't like at all and some things that were very good. I have limited access(at stores I can visit) to more traditional items. I have used some pieces of chicken with fried skin. It gave it a familiar southern taste. My sister joked I would be adding white gravy to dip it. :D
