I just returned from a movie theatre where my family and I had watched "Ponyo" (Gake no Ue no Ponyo -Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea), the new Hayao Miyazaki's movie.
It was SO WONDERFUL! Absolutely amazing, beautiful, enchanting... Seriously, a few very first minutes after the movie had started I only prayed for it to not to get worse, but after a few more minutes I absolutely relaxed and was enjoying it's magic like a little kid.
Indeed, It's a movie for the young kids, yet as always with a Miyazaki's films has a deeper level - more that one, in fact. When The Goddess herself appeared I wasn't even surprised, I just was in a state of a quiet awe before the genius of the people who made this movie.

I don't read the movie reviews, but I can easily imagine that every freakin' critic now is pointing on the reusing of the characters, saying that Ponyo=Mei, Fujimoto=Howl, that there's even Witch of the Waste in a wheelchair... Yep, I also noticed that. But - wake up, people, don't you miss those characters??? Doesn't our freakin' world need them any longer? If you do -it's really sad. And I simply can't imagine what else the most nagging critic can pick at.
on the side note... As per usual, there were some preview trailers of the new/coming american animated releases played before the movie; all of them - generic, absolutely the same-looking, empty, soul-less, computer-made 3d shit. The movies for kids. Ye gods, what happened to our culture? It's especially noticeable... why, it screams out! - in the contrast with a Miyazaki's movie:/
So-
Go watch
the trailer, then rush to the theatre to watch "Ponyo" while movies like this are still here!
