Inkstone Castle

Amazing scowling_hermit drew a picture for me, and I wanted to draw something for her. I am predictable, you see, all I can ask for is a J-rock star portrait... But scowling_hermit is sophisticated and stylish, she asked for a picture of a sinister vampire guy.
Here's the result. I thought it'd be interesting to try a different type of composition, somewhat comics/manga-like, with the small attention-grabbing frames. I was working very fast, and finished this picture in two days, which is almost a speed record for me. The lower panel took about as much time as the upper one...
I don't know if this guy is sinister enough, he turn out to be rather of a romantic type vamp... Still, I hope that she'll like him.

Картинка для scowling_hermit. Она нарисовала для меня Чибу, мне тоже захотелось нарисовать что-нибудь для неё, она решила, что ей хотелось бы мрачного вампира. Не знаю, достаточно ли мрачный у меня вышел вомпер, скорее романтичный, но надеюсь, ей понравится:)

My gift to Gerie is a picture of her character, who also somehow ended up in my story about Kage, that is taking place in an alternative universe, where all the mythological creatures do exist, but live in secret and play by the humans' rule. Ninjin (Carrot Head) has kitsune and dragon blood in his veins, he is a few centuries old, and his real name is "Flames in the Dusk" or something like this, I don't quite remember:) However, he had never found a place for himself in the modern world. So he lives as a hermit in an abandoned temple, and is connecting with the outer world mostly by internet. Ninjin has a melancholical, contemplative personality, he loves poetry and nature, and spends most of his days sweeping the temple's yard and thinking. Ninjin is a distant relative (by the fox side of family) of Kage's love interest Tsuki, a crazy rock-musician kitsine girl. He is also Kage's online friend, and the most valued critic on an online poetry board.

Подарочег - портрет Гериного персонажа, который каким-то образом к тому же оказался действующим лицом в моей собственной истории про Каге. Дело там происходит в альтернативном мире, в котором существуют всевозможные мифологические существа, которые живут в тайне бок о бок с людьми и (почти) играют по человеческим правилам и законам. Морковкин (Ниндзин по-японски) имеет своими родственниками кицунэ и драконов, ему несколько сотен лет от роду, у него даже есть настоящее навороченое имя, что-то типа "Пламя в Сумерках" (точней не вспомню, прости, Морковкин!:) - но он так никогда и не вписался в людской мир. Живёт себе отшельником в заброшенном храме, общаясь с окружающим миром только посредством интернета, и проводит большую часть своего времени меланхолично подметая дворик при святилище, предаваясь созерцанию и философским размышлениям.

Look what arrived by male to my new address!

There was an envelop from scowling_hermit: a beautiful Halloween card, and two coolest hand-drawn by her artistic bookmarks. Yay!:) Thank you very much, dear! ♥! Sasha expropriated the flying fang-head bookmark at ones, but I said - back off from my vampire dude!:[ )


And then there was a small package from jade_teacup that contained only one thing - but what a wonderful thing it was: a messenger bag, all handmade and hand-painted by my talented friend! WOW! And look at the design: it's a little purple Daruma with bat ornament! It's like our family's ultimate symbolical representation: purple is my favorite color, Daruma is Anton's folklore favorite, and bats are Sasha's favorite animals. How thoughtful!:))) Thank you so much, Ben, I absolutely love the bag!♥

And notice the tiny kokeshi doll on the bag! Her name is kimmi Yazzy, I bought her yesterday in in Denver on Sakura plaza especially as a charm for this bag. Kawaii, desu ne?:)
