Gypsy Punks!
Mar. 8th, 2008 12:16 pmGogol Bordello's concert last night was AWESOME! I am so glad, that we - Joe, Anton, and I - made it. (A. was babysitting for us, Sashka was behaving:).
The theatre - Fillmore Auditorium in Denver - was good, and we actually were on the dancing floor just several meters from the scene. The warming up band was also much, much better, than the previous one. The public was cool; I was amused to see some boys in semi-fantasy-ish outfits: there were a few "pirates", and a bunch of kilts. Especially colorful was a young fellow in a green kilt, some obviously-from-a-renfest boots, and white shirt, who was wearing an eyeliner and had a gorgeous (for a white guy) head of the loooong beaded dreads, that were flying in all the directions, when he was dancing around wildly:))
Gogol Bordello were at their best, better then on the previous concert we've been. We were standing (well, jumping and dancing:) right in the middle of the auditorium, and close to the scene, having a perfect view on Eugine Hutz all the time. Wow, such energy! 8) They were playing mostly Super Taranta, but also some old songs - Baro Foro, Mishto, Start Wearing Purple, 60 revolutions per minute, etc. All turned on to the maximum by their energy, people were dancing even more madly then usually, and it was taking some strength, and either an energy barrier, or an occasional blow of a fist (I used both:) to stay on the dancing floor and not to get knocked down by the dancing horde. All and all, it was a ton of fun. A boy, who was standing right behind me (who was obviously impressed by my knowledge of the russian part of the songs:)) had a bracelet, that sounded just like a gypsy tambourine, I so want one like this!:) And Hutz, shirtless, as always, looks even better with long hair;) I was just bathing in all that wild atmosphere; awesome, awesome...
There's just one thing, that is darkening my mood right now: my mother-in-law is already must be in the US:(
Anyway...
That's pretty much matches the yesterday's concert:)
And especially for one Eugine Hutz's mustaches' fanboy, a cute (kinda, heh:) photo:

a disclaimer: those photos are not mine, if they are yours, tell me, and I'll give you a credit!:)

I'm so glad that you enjoyed yourself so much and that Eugene and the rest of Gogol Bordello were really at the top of their performance!!!
Guys in kilts! I would have loved to have been there!!!
And that guy's bracelet sounds very cool. If you find one, do show us a photo. :D
Thanks for sharing your great time. Oh, and the drummer behind Eugene looks sort of cute, too!!

He-he:) Since female legs became a secret no more - in fact, there's too much of them everywhere - men in kilts became more and more interesting;))
There'll be a St. Patrick's day parade soon, I hope, you'll have a chance to see some kilts around the town:)
The drummer is an american, and yes, he is very cute, and tall, too, I like tall guys;)

Date: 2008-03-09 08:11 pm (UTC)LOL I never thought of it that. You are right. I don't see guys legs enough.
There will be no kilted boys in my town. There are no celebrations for St. Patrick's day.
hee hee just more to love. Looooong, muscular legs...there we are back to legs. :d

Date: 2008-03-09 09:42 pm (UTC)Oh, that's sad!:( A kilt is such a masculine garment... Long shorts are okay, but kilts are a ton better - and not just because they open a err, horizon to the fantasy;)) For example, a 45 years (or older) guy, wearing shorts not for a sport activity, always look pathetic; while old guys in kilts are actually look much better, than when they are wearing pants - especially when they are parading around with pipes:))
Those celtic guys knew how to present themselves!:)

Amen! I totally agree.

Ahaha, we understand each other, don't we? ;))
Have you ever worn a skirt/kilt/sarong/etc.?...

Date: 2008-03-11 05:25 am (UTC)A Russian-irish party would be very interesting. In fact, I think any party you throw would have to be fun.
Yes! Especially on this subject.
I have only worn skirts and gowns as part of costumes. Never just as everyday fashion. A friend of mine had a kilt that he bought off the rack. It wouldn't fit him and he offered it to me. I tried to put it on over my pants, but it wouldn't fit and even without my pants it was too tight. That was the only time I had tried one on. I really like the idea of a long skirt, something a bit uniform and severe.

Date: 2008-03-11 07:03 am (UTC)I am sure of it. No, really - I mean, Matt is a sort of guy, who makes people to feel good about him. I guess, you are just good in guessing a person's character by his/her appearance (i am good at it too:)
As I said, I like men in skirts: cool, interesting, and, yes, provocative. A a long skirt, something a bit uniform and severe - goth type - on a guy, sound wonderful to me;)
Sarongs are also unexpectedly cool. I remember watching a part of a movie - don't remember, what it was - but there was Val Kilmer, wearing a shirt and a sarong. Mmmmmmmm;)
