A few days ago I discovered a funny-shaped little bump on the outer side of Onyx's right elbow. It didn't seem to bother the cat at all, yet Onyx is not young, and - better to play it safe, you know. So Anton took Onyx to the vet. In the clinic they said they never saw anything like that. Than Dr. Arnold- our favorite vet - suddenly got an idea, and sent for a microchip checker. And it was it: an identification microchip - a one from Michigan where Onyx was adopted 9 years ago - travelled all the way from the cat's withers (is that the right word? anyway, they put microchips in mammals in the area of right shoulder blade) to his elbow. The doctor said that yeah, those things are known for traveling inside the body, but this is the record, as far as he knows!
So it was a pleasant and rather funny visit to a vet - hey, no real problem here!:) - but makes one to think about reliability of all those technologies. I mean - our vet is really good and knowledgeable in spite of the fact that he is a young (and rather cute, too) guy... I wonder, how many other vets/ animal shelters would look for a microchip in a lost pet's elbow?

I've heard of those 'traveling' microchips! Glad that's all it was and not something really wrong with Onyx. He and Chiba are handsome fellows. :)

oh yes, it was a relief - probably the least scary/painful visit to vet ever. and the cause is rather crazy, don't you think?...

Yes, it's very crazy...but at least now you know that it's nothing to worry about! :)

I'm glad things worked out OK.

That is interesting about the chip. That is something I would never have thought of!

It is always nice to see Onyx and Chiba.

yeah, obviously, the vets have experience with this kind of things, still... anyway, it's all well that ends well, I am glad that it was just a frek-o-traveling chip!:)
