There was another part of the dream, prior to this one, but I don't remember it. Then:
I was a cowboy. I was in the saddle of my gray dappled horse, could see myself as a person could see her/himself. Especially well I remember my suntanned, covered with small light hair (yay, I was a blond guy!:) arms, and my fingernails, that looked much lighter, than my hands. I had on a white with blue stripes shirt, with rolled up sleeves, jeans, boots. And had a rifle under my arm. 8) The setting was pretty Colorado-ish, a highway and some fields/pastures around; it was a sunny day. Okay.
Now, my job was to guard those animals.... From the first glance they looked like llamas, but there were some slight differences in their appearance: their upper teeth were too big and always were showing up, may be there was something [almost undetectable] else. There was a small herd of them, 10-12 animals, but [I knew] there were more somewhere else around. The coloration of the things was either black of white; a few of them were white with black ears and legs, and one of them was black with a big white spot. They were pretty big, but not looking scary, of unruly, or something - until they started to run. The llamas were standing on a field, watching the cars (there were not too many of them) on the highway. Don't remember them grazing, just watching the cars. Sometimes one or another of the llamas suddenly started to run, may be chasing/racing a car - and, while running, they were morphing. Changing. They were llamas, when they started their run, but very quickly, in a second, starting to morph. First, their posture were changing, the head and neck were going front-ward, and their running legs were bending, of something, but they were moving so wast, that I can't say for sure. The necks shortened, and the head was transformed into a very carnivorous-like, but still had those big llama eyes. At this point they were going some 60-70mph. Even morphed, they were still covered with llama fur, only it seem to change the texture to a bit on more wild and rough, strangely "prehistoric". The black ones were spraying huge furry black wings instead of their front legs, but were still running, not flying. My job was not to allowed those creatures to run and transform, and - especially - to cross the highway. Crossing of the road were so serious, that I supposed to shoot down the ones, that would do it. So I, on my horse, was patrolling the roadside, watching those things. Fortunately, most of them didn't care for the running, it looked like they were not ready to morph yet. But four of the animals were giving me trouble: one of them was white, another was white with black legs, there also was a black one, and the last one was black with big white spot. This last one was morphing into a hideous, running vulture-like creature, and was doing it more often, than the others; on the other hand, it was easy to stop. The white one had finally run away on the other side of the road, and I was chasing it, but it was faster, than my horse, so I had to open fire. There was a special place of power somewhere on the other side of the highway, and that's where they were trying to get. It proved to be hard to shoot my rifle into the aim, while galloping on the prairie, and I didn't want to kill the creature, yet I kept chasing it, shooting. The sky in front of me turned stormy and dark, with the silent flashes of the white lightnings. Then something had changed, and the other part of the dream had started.
