I had a strange dream the last night.
There was a world with european city architecture and steampunk-like devices (a lot of shiny brass knobs and buttons, and thick glass, and all). I knew that I belonged to this world, but at the moment I was running/floating in graceful low-gravity "moon steps" over the Light Flow (the underground stream of Koki, the essence of life from Mishi-shi anime/manga), following the stream. It was dark, the place was unidentifiable; I felt powerful. I was dressed in some garment, made out of wide synthetic translucent black ribbons, and they seem to move on their own, the whole thing having some underwater effect in the green-ish light of the Light Flow. The color was disappearing time to time, and everything including me was turning into black-and-white drawing with finest hatching (manga!8)), then back to "real". I was moving upstream, and I got to the point where two streams were merging into one. There I saw Ginko the mushi-shi, sitting on the bank. I am not sure if I was looking for him, but I was not surprised to see him there. The mushi-shi was drawn, just like in the anime series, but somehow real, up to his not-so-fresh shirt's collar. I was high above him, so to communicate with him I sort of dived into darkness head down, and the next appeared right in the stream. Now I was liquidly flowing with the Koki, absolutely the manner the goddess - Ponyo mother - is moving in the "Ponyo" movie when she appears for the first time, and I was as big as she was, too - the size of a small ship. My legs became those two streams, that were merging into one, which was my body. Ginko stood up and stepped into the stream, I was looking up at him, seeing the black shadow on the pace of his left eye; he was so small. I am not sure if I was talking, or somehow translated the images to him, I was inviting him into mine - that proto-steampunk - world, trying to explain that everything there is working by the means of science, which in fact is about as "scientific" as his mushi recearch stuff. He wasn't enthusiastic about it, he said he can't go because too much depends on him in his world; I think that he was not fully understanding the picture and opportunity... or may be I wasn't. Being so big and liquid (and eerie-beautiful, too!), I felt sort of superior over him. Then Ginko bent down and submerged his hand into the stream, and I felt it like a touch of a normal-size man's palm, warm, and understood that I was getting smaller, which didn't feel good. Then I was disturbed by some sound outside, and I don't remember the rest of the dream - or even if there was the rest.

now...Yes, I am working on a steampunk picture; and yes, I am reading a Mushi-shi manga. But I wonder where this underwater gracefulness and the green glow are came from...
