autumn ikebana arrangements picspam

It is always good to be safe when berries and plants are concerned. WHen I was young I was confused about these berries and the berries of horse nettle. I gave my cousin a handful of horse nettle berries, he chewed them, but spit them out because of their bad taste. I don't think they would have killed him, but he may have been sick.

Anyway, the Chinese lanterns are a different species than the ones that grow here, but the berries are all eatable. But, they are in the same family as the tomato(nightshade family), and the leaves of the plant can be used as a hallucinogen.

I'll try to plant some of the berries in my backyard, may be I'll have the lanterns of my own next year:)
